Lot 233 Collis P. Huntington
One among scores of gold-seeking ‘forty-niners,’ Huntington eventually became a member of the ‘Big Four’ who organized the Central Pacific Railroad in 1861. DS, signed “C. P. Huntington,” one page, 16.75 x 8, no date. An attractive unissued stock certificate for the Chesapeake, Ohio and Southwestern Railroad Company, signed at the bottom by Huntington as the company’s president. In fine condition, with two purple cancellation lines through signature, some light edge toning, and a vertical fold to left side.
